The Tyvek Shopping Bag is our heavy-duty Tyvek retail bag, engineered for brands that need a durable, waterproof shopping bag that carries heavy loads while maintaining a premium aesthetic. Made from DuPont Tyvek Type 44 (44 lb / 150 gsm) — nearly three times the weight of standard Type 14 Tyvek — this bag offers increased rigidity, abrasion resistance and load capacity while retaining all of Tyvek's signature benefits: waterproof, tear-resistant, bacteria-resistant and 100% recyclable.

The 15 cm wide gusset accommodates bulky retail purchases — clothing, shoes, books, groceries and household items — while the reinforced handle attachment (bar-tack stitched with heavy-duty thread) ensures the 60 cm webbing handles stay secure even at maximum load. The bag carries up to 10 kg (22 lbs) safely, making it a genuine replacement for single-use plastic shopping bags. Full-color edge-to-edge printing transforms the entire bag surface into a brand canvas, and the heavier Type 44 material holds printed artwork with exceptional clarity and color vibrancy.

What makes it durable

Material: Genuine DuPont Tyvek Type 44 (44 lb / 150 gsm) — the heavyweight grade in the Tyvek range, offering increased rigidity, tensile strength and abrasion resistance compared to Type 14. Waterproof: hydrostatic head exceeding 2,000 mm. Handles: 25 mm wide polypropylene webbing, 60 cm drop, bar-tack reinforced at attachment points with bonded nylon thread. Gusset: 15 cm full side and bottom gusset, allowing the bag to expand for bulky items. Printing: offset CMYK full-color with edge-to-edge bleed, screen print (up to 6 colors). The heavier Type 44 substrate provides exceptional print clarity and color saturation. 100% recyclable through paper recycling streams. All material DuPont sourced.

What is the difference between Type 14 and Type 44 Tyvek?

Type 14 (14 lb / 48 gsm) is the lightweight grade — ultra-light, flexible, ideal for mailers, lightweight totes and pouches. Type 44 (44 lb / 150 gsm) is the heavyweight grade — more rigid, stronger, more abrasion-resistant, ideal for heavy-duty shopping bags and structured carry bags. Both are 100% genuine DuPont Tyvek with the same waterproof and tear-resistant properties.

How much weight can this bag carry?

The Type 44 Tyvek Shopping Bag safely carries up to 10 kg (22 lbs). The reinforced bar-tack handle attachment and heavyweight material ensure durability at maximum load. We have tested the bag to 12 kg without handle or seam failure.

Is this bag suitable for grocery shopping with heavy items?

Yes. The 15 cm gusset and 10 kg capacity make it suitable for grocery shopping, including canned goods, bottles and produce. The waterproof Tyvek material protects contents from rain and wet shopping carts. For very heavy loads (over 10 kg), we recommend the 12oz Cotton Tote with its 15 kg capacity.

Can the handles be made longer for shoulder carry?

Standard handle drop is 60 cm (designed for shoulder carry). Custom handle lengths from 40 cm (hand carry) to 80 cm (extended shoulder) are available. Please specify handle length when requesting a quote.

What is the minimum order for full-color printing?

Full-color offset printing has a 500-piece minimum. For orders of 1–4 colors) is available. Blank bags from stock can ship within 48 hours for urgent orders.
